Rememder this bay amd

 - It's with a heavy heartthat we now pay respects to a friend who hastouched all of our lives and our wallets. A friend who stuck by our side, whether we wanted it or not and never really changed. (sad music) The devastating loss ofIntel's performance leadership in gaming leaves a voidthat for many of us, won't be easy to fill. But, friends, don't be blue, 'cause there's always team red. (upbeat bright music) SmartDeploy allows IT departments to re-image any computer modelfrom a single golden image. Search the library for your model and grab your exclusive free licenses worth over $800 at smartdeploy.com/linus. (upbeat electronic music) Four CPUs are launching today. The Ryzen 5950X, Ryzen 9 5900X, and the Ryzen 7 5800X. And wait, where's our 5600X? Well, there's one of those too. Curiously, no non-X CPUs haveeven been announced just yet but these all coincide withtheir 3000 Series namesakes in terms of core countand market position. AMD did make one tweakto the lineup though, every skew but the Ryzen 5 5600X has received a $50 price bump, placing it firmly aboveIntel, commanding a premium. This threw lot of folks for aloop after the announcement. And now, we can finallyanswer the question. Can they, can they do that? Our test setup is a bitmore extensive than usual because we're packingin all four new CPUs, four of their predecessorsand three team blue CPUs to mark this potentiallymomentous occasion. Getting right to business. When compared against ourRyzen 3000 Series chips, it's clear that in games, there is a major performance advantage with the 5000 Series. In fact, that advantagetends to hover around 20%, extremely close to AMD'sclaimed 19% instructions per clock performance uplift. And this is especially truein notoriously CPU bound games like Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020. Same goes for GTA V, CS:GO. Heck, even Civilization VI has turn times that are roughly five seconds faster. Doesn't matter what game it is, the Ryzen 5000 Seriesis significantly faster compared to the last gen. But none of this is a surprise. I mean, obviously AMDwouldn't release a new product if it was worse than their old one. Hey, hey, sh, we don't talk about that. Usually that doesn't happen. So then, how does Ryzen 5000stack up against team blue? Ladies and gentlemen, they got 'em. (crowd cheers) Even the Ryzen 5 5600X, a CPU that costs 300 U.S. dollars beat every single one of Intel's CPUs, more often than it lost. And where it did lose, it was within a few percentage points. These are all games thatare traditionally CPU bound and holy (beep) would you look at thatperformance in CS:GO? That is over 200 more frames per second. Dr. Su, please, they're already dead! Stop kicking them! Kick over to lttstore.com for a sweet CPU Pins t-shirt instead, it's Ryzen inspired, designed, stylish and nerdy at the same time. For the love of allthat's good, lttstore.com. Moving on. Productivity is Ryzen'straditional stomping ground. And well, what can I say? This guy stomps. Look at these single-threadedCinebench scores. Only the 5600X, thelowest in the new lineup, falls below 600 points. And for reference, a Corei9-10900K scores a measly 535. AMD continues to flex all over not only their previous generation but team blue's entire lineup, with the Ryzen 7 5800X meeting or beating Intel's Core i9, even in multi-threadedworkloads like POV-Ray, our Mozilla Firefoxcompile test and Blender. Only V-Ray and Corona Rendererwere any kinder to Intel. And even that lead quickly evaporated when we introduced the cost competitor Ryzen 9 5900X to the mix, to say nothing of the 16-core 5950X. Intel just cannot catch a break here. And if you were wondering whether their upcoming Rocket LakeCPUs are going to help. Well, after doing somerough napkin math here, if we assume Rocket Lake's performance will be between 10 and20% higher than 10th Gen, that basically bringsus back to status quo. So assuming that Intelcan keep core clocks as high as they are now,the best case scenario is that Intel will get backtheir gaming performance throne but because they are losingtwo cores on the top end skew, that means that anywhere thatthread count is a factor, Intel's claimed IPC uplift is unlikely to make up the difference. So at a minimum then,AMD has the gaming crown for a couple of months and will continue to absolutely pulverizeIntel in productivity, even after the 11th Gen launch. I mean, this is somethingthat we haven't seen in well over a decade now. Clearly then, surely this comesat some sort of major cost in power consumption orthermal output, right? Right? Wrong. Check this out. Under the same Blender workload, we are bang on between all ofour 3000 and 5000 Series CPUs, with none of the pairsappreciably hotter than the other. Not only that, the 5000Series CPUs maintained roughly the same oreven higher core clocks throughout the test. That means the improvements in performance mostly came straight fromimprovements in core architecture. Power consumption bizarrelyseems to be actually down a bit for Ryzen 5000, with each CPUdrawing at worst, the same, or at best, a little bit less juice from the socket than 3000 Series. And that means we cancorroborate AMD's claims that they are literallynot drawing so much as a single watt more. This really is an incredible achievement. As for how they got here, AMD claims that all of this was done through pure engineering. And there's a lot to talk about here, starting with the demiseof the compute complex as we know it. Now they still call them CCXs, but they're not partitioned into groups of four cores anymore. And every eight-core dieis now able to access its full level three cachewithout having to deal with the extra latencyinvolved in splitting it up. This is a big part of what gives AMD such a massive boost in performance, because as we're well aware by now, Zen loves fast memory and Zen 3 is no exception. So having a unified pool of cache memory means that Ryzen 5000can more effectively feed all the cores all the time. And that's not all. AMD tweaked their branch predictor and their operation queue. And the TLDR of that is thatthe CPU can do more per clock and there's less of a penalty for it having to back up and redo work if it mis-predicts something. and beyond just Ryzen 5000 itself. AMD's upcoming Radeon 6000 Series GPUs, will be able to work with these CPUs with a feature that they'recalling Smart Access Memory, which will allow a RyzenCPU to access all 16 gigs of a Radeon 6000 Series GPU's memory. In some cases providing a major speed up. Now we are eager to testthis out for ourselves once those cards launch. So make sure that you getsubscribed so you don't miss it. As for compatibility, AMD says that Ryzen 5000CPUs will be compatible with motherboards using400 Series chipsets as well as the recommended500 Series chipsets. You'll need to waitthough for a BIOS update in order to use one ofthese new Zen 3 CPUs in an older board. And unfortunately for earlyadopters and thrift seekers, 300 Series motherboardsare officially unsupported. Makes sense, I guess. I mean, early 1st Gen Ryzenboards had some issues and they can't guaranteeanything at this point. And frankly, AMD hasstill done pretty okay with intergenerationalcompatibility for the most part, especially compared toIntel's hard and fast two generations of CPU,two generations of boards, and then you're done. Bottom line then, if Ryzen3000 was Ryzen matured, Ryzen 5000 is a continuation of that. I mean, we experiencedno weird stability issues even right at launch. And it also marks AMD'sreturned to the upper echelon of desktop CPU performance. Intel by contrast, outright missed the holiday season this year. And if AMD is able to further refine the next big Ryzen CPU, for TSMC's shiny newfive nanometer process, Intel's holiday next year, isn't gonna look much better. Like, to be clear, it'snot all about nanometers. Nvidia famously squeezed a full generation of extra performance withoutchanging process nodes when they released Maxwell in 2014. And doi, AMD, just did it todayon TSMC's seven nanometer. But Rocket Lake isgonna be pushing Intel's geriatric 14 nanometernode to its freaking limit unless something reallysurprising happens. So... it's a big win, here's the podium. The only reason that I would advise you not to pull the trigger is if you get mondo buyer'sremorse when you buy new stuff and it gets replacedby something way better a short time later, becauseIntel and AMD's leapfrog game looks to be heating up, not slowing down. I just hope that AMD's supplycan keep up with the demand. Just like I hope you cankeep up with my segue to our sponsor Backblaze! Thanks for watching, guys. If you're looking for something else, maybe go check out our announcement video for the Ryzen 6000 Series. It's got all the juicydetails about the GPUs that are supposed to go handin hand with these CPUs. Did you notice AMD didn'tlaunch a new chipset with these? That is so cool. They're not even trying to force you to go buy a new motherboard. Motherboard guys must notlike it that much though.

Who has the Best pc at Ltt??

  - The last time we invadedthe privacy of our staff, entering their homes and riflingthrough their belongings, it was for the Wall of Shame, showing you guys the three worst computers out of everyone who works at a Linus... At a Linus... At Linus Tech Tips. This time around, we are gonna find the three best machines outof everybody who works here, except there is one small challenge. Last time, we took the very worst one and gave them a free upgrade. This time around, thisis already the people who have the most balling setups, so we had to dig pretty deep to find anything that would be an upgrade. So Intel, our sponsor for today's video, has provided a Core i9-9900K, and Asus chipped in one of their Maximus ROGgaming motherboards as well. So let's head into ourfirst contestant here. I can tell you one thing: They definitely have a bettergaming rig than a barbecue. - [Jake] Wow. - I thought it was a propane one, but it's actually, that'sactually, that's nice. - Look down there, wehave a natural gas one that's routed into the house.- That's a wire brush. - And there's another one-- I shouldn't be a hater. Shouldn't be a hater.- We have three. Three of 'em.- I just... (upbeat music) So our first stop, ratherunsurprisingly, is Jake's house, or rather, I shouldsay, Jake's mom's house, which might explain whyJake has so much budget to spend on his gaming setup. One thing he doesn'tapparently have budget for is a soldering iron, although I gotta say, Jake, I really appreciate you helpfully taking all the things that you'vestolen from the office and putting them in one place for me so that I don't haveto go digging for them like I did at Dennis' house. - I also stole- - I guarantee you didn't buy this. - No! I bought it, I paid for this. - I actually was lookingfor this yesterday. - This is like our third soldering iron, and I borrowed it for like two days. - Well, I was looking for this one. - What about the floss? Oh. Uh, are you flossing right now? - I actually have not seen Jake's setup. There's some unusualthings like, for example, this UPS that's definitelyfrom the office. - [Jake] Yes. Um... - Why do you have so many wireless mice? - (laughs) I like to switch itup sometimes. That's a G305. - You've got a G PRO Wireless. You already have the king of gaming mice. - I like the G305, and then the 403 is justkinda nostalgia, you know? - Let's see if he hasall of them plugged in. Okay, this one is indeed actually active. This one is also pluggedin. What the hell? - I also have another 403, two 502s, and I think there's a G900 somewhere. - Ooh!- Oh god. Yeah, the cables are kinda short. - [Linus] So what are you already running? Wow, is this ITX? - So this case is actually for mATX, but the board that I had was ITX. And that graphics card is so massive that I can't even puteven put anything else in PCIe slots, so whatever. - [Linus] I'm just tryingto figure out how much of this stuff is from the office. - [Jake] Literally none of it. - Literally none of it? You know that RAM has aninventory sticker on it, right? - [Jake] Okay, well,I bought it from work. - [Linus] This is a prettybanging rig. 2080 Ti. 16 gigs RAM. What CPU is that in there? - [Jake] It's a 7700K. - Okay, well at leastthat would be an upgrade. On the subject of mechanic, I really like your decal that you've got on your rear panel here. - Yeah, so that's actually my old car that some guy hand-drew. He sent me a sticker and Istuck it on the side of my case. That Volta cable I did not pay for. - Oh, this one?(Jake laughs) - So I actually saw this trick online. You use the Volta cableand stick the little one- or two-gram dongle-y bit in the mouse and then, assuming thatsomebody isn't holding it, it just goes like that, and you just go bloop, and it hooks up, charges the mouse. - What about this chair? - I think I bought thatchair from work for $10. - No way.- It was broken on the bottom, on the casters.- Oh. - And then I got a new base for it. And it's kinda wonky- - Yeah, all right.- But it's good enough. It's better than theIKEA chair I had before. - This is actually a pretty sick setup. You've got two Acer Predator X34s. So these are 100 hertz. I see you've helpfully put the refresh rate counter up there.- I love that thing. It's great.- Yeah. Okay. 3440 x 1440 ultrawide monitors, and then I'm guessing these areyour old monitors over here. - [Jake] I actually boughtthose as side monitors off a guy from Craigslistfor really cheap. - [Linus] So you seem to bekinda set up for streaming, but as far as I know youdon't actually game stream, so are you just like a poser streamer? - I didn't stream for like eight months. I used to do it quite a bit, and then recently I've doneit once or twice a week, just on the not-yet-LTT"Minecraft" server. - So why don't you tell usabout your audio setup here? Because it seems to be a fairbit better than "WAN Show." - So overall it's actually pretty simple. This is the same preampwe use on "WAN Show." This is where I got theinspiration to buy it. So I have an Audio-Technica AT2035 with a stupid pop filter that's just there to protect it from food when I'm eating, with a Rode PSA1 boom arm. So that goes right into the preamp, which is pre-amping oursignal, and then it goes over to this little, crappy Behringer interface. - But your webcam kinda... - It does kinda suck.- Sucks. Yeah. - [Jake] But it's honestlygood enough. (laughs) - You unplug it when you're not using it? - Well, see, the thingwith this stupid webcam is this is how long the cable is. It's like three feet. But it's conveniently just long enough to plug in right there, so I might as well just unplug it and tuck it behind whenI'm not using it, right? - [Linus] Why do you needtwo 34-inch ultrawides' worth of desktop real estate? - Ah... Pretty much just haveeverything you need access to while you're streaming, while you're gaming, and then have your game on the main screen and don't have to Tabout, like literally ever. - Pretty sick setup. With that said, I think you might end up giving up some style points here. This stand. This is three two-by-eights. This is pretty bad, Jake. - I mean, okay-- Also, also, I couldn't help noticing that even if this hardwarewasn't stolen from work, it's not really being treatedwith the proper respect. Down here, under the bed, we've got a hard drive-- Those are dead hard drives. - [Linus] Got another hard drive. - Dead!- And what is this? Do your laundry.(Jake laughs) Got a PS3.- Those, okay, so that- - [Linus] Got another, more different PS3. - One of those PS3s is running- - This is fun!- Is running Linux. - I bet this I/O shieldis stolen from the office. - Uh... - I want more monitors too. - Yeah, I don't know if it'snecessarily more efficient, but it is convenient. - So contender number twowas sort of a surprise to me, because he's more into board games than computer games as far as I knew, but our next setup is actuallynone other than Tyler's, our warehouse and inventoryand logistics manager. - Yeah, and I think theimportant thing to remember when you step into my homeis that at the office, I am the organization and cleanliness guy, and this is my setup. - Wow! Okay. So I've seen Tyler working on this kind of stuff at the office. Oh, I think I actually sawyou working on this guy. - Yeah, you did. - Tyler actually paints his own figurines. Would figurine be the correct term? - Miniature.- Miniature. I knew there was a properterm that I was missing here. I think he does aspectacular job with them. I'll let you guys be the judge though. Why don't we make our wayin towards the computer? So gotta get past theboxes of new miniatures that you still haven't worked on. Oh, some of them havesome paint on them though. - They got their white coats on, and then they got their green trim. And then I have my collectionof various romance books and real human hairthat I use for cosplay. - [Linus] Along witha list of real letters to fictional people that youapparently need to write. - Yeah, so that's a series of short stories that I'm working on. - "To the other participantsof this Mexican standoff," "To the poor bastards on theother side of the blast door," and "To the anonymous man givingme constructive criticism." - That's just more painting stuff. - Yeah, with something. Something got on there. - Yeah, it's just all over. - I can only focus whensomething's this close in front of me.- I think that's how close it's supposed to be whenyou're working on it. - I don't like it. - Yeah, I'm not a fan either. - In terms of general setup here, there's some highlights alreadyand there's some lowlights. We've got a G502 mouse. (clucks) Like it. We've got one of those free mouse pads that they gave away in the early '90s. This is a freakin' LG ultrawidemonitor here. 34 inches. You're connected via HDMI, aren't you? - Yes, I am. - He's running at 49 hertz instead of 60 hertz on his ultrawide because of the bandwidth limitation of the HDMI input on this model. Tyler. This keyboard- - This keyboard-- Is quite frankly disgusting. - [Tyler] Needs to beswapped out, yeah. It is, uh- - Or run through thedishwasher. Or something. Something, please. - It has been with me for a long time. - Your computer might actually be the cleanest component of this entire rig. - [Tyler] Well, it's the newest. - Oh! What kinda specs are we looking at here? - [Tyler] So it's an i7-8700, GeForce 1080 Ti, 32 gigabytes of RAM- - RGB.- An SSD and a hard drive. - [Linus] So did someone at the office put this together for you?- Oh yeah, this was all Ed. I was going to do it on my own because I felt veryconfident in my abilities, but then, as soon as Istarted putting it together, I realized that it wasquite out of my league. - [Linus] So what inspired you to put together a rig like this? - [Tyler] So first, I wantedto play "Fallout '76," but then it became quickly apparent that it was a terrible game. So then, after that, I wanted to play "The OuterWorlds" when it comes out, so I'm pretty eager for that. At the moment, mostly I use it for "Civilization," which is a little- - This is a pretty overkill "Civ" machine. - Yeah, it's a littleover-the-kill for "Civ," although I did see a lotof performance improvement in the later game, when normally the processing power starts to lag down just because there's somuch stuff on the map. But it's still more ofa machine that I built for gaming in the next two to three years, as opposed to stuffthat's just out right now. - [Linus] Tyler, doyou have a screwdriver? - I think Kristen hasone. Just let me check. - Okay. - [Tyler] Do we have a screwdriver? - So iFixit told us we had to get rid ofall the first-gen kits so that they would stopappearing on camera, and Tyler helpfully tookone off of our hands for us. - Yeah.- Stealing it. - [Tyler] I jumped right on that grenade. - [Linus] I knew I wasgonna find something stolen. - [Tyler] It's not stolenif you give it to me. - [Linus] Did Ed know whenhe built you this machine that it was going to be subjected to this? - [Tyler] Subjected to what? - I mean, it does sit in afairly gloriously nerdy place. I'm willing to bet there is a backstory for literally everything in this nook. What's the backstory forthis surprise container? - So this was brought tome from one of my friends, who I'm actually in arole-playing podcast with. He went on a trip toJapan and he brought back unique gifts for each of us. I believe it is a little spirit animal- - You don't know what it is. - [Tyler] I thought it was a goat. - The Kindle with the dead battery. - Yeah, it's a Kindlethat's not plugged in. - You don't like E Ink? - I love this Kindle. That's a cat toy. Obviously Mycroft batted itbehind my computer station. - 17 months ago. - Possibly. I enjoy Coke. (David laughs) - Oh my god. - [Tyler] Oh, the originalVHS tapes of "Star Wars?" - Well-- Or, sorry, the last launch of the original ones before they digitally remastered them. - I had this, and my parentsthrew it away when they moved. - Yeah, I found thosein a thrift shop for $3. - What? Do they work though? - They do. - And you have a VHS player? - I do not. - This place has a lot ofcharacter, but I'll say this: if you're ever doing like acleanup Saturday or something, call me, I would be happy to help. - Yeah. I'll call you whenI need to paint my walls. - First Dennis, now Brandon... Taran was like, "Oh, Ididn't know you paint walls. I would've had you come paint my walls." It's not actually a service I offer. So we've had some good ones so far, but Jono's promises to be the cutest of our setup tours today. Not because Jono isparticularly cute, sorry Jono, but because he has a new puppy! Oh my goodness! You can pick her up? - Yep. She's 52 pounds of love. - You were almost Sho Pao? - [Jono] If it was a male dogI was gonna call it Subway. - [David] From "Community?" - Yeah, (laughs) exactly! You got it! - So I'm liking the setup here overall. You've got the whiteboardfor the organization. You got the DualShockcontroller over there. Do you actually use that for PC gaming? Is that why it's there?- No, no, for PS4. I used to have it over here, but I don't play any consoles anymore, so it's all about PC gaming. - Don't suck up. - Why? So basically enough, just, let's say, for the monitors, I have a PG279Q here- - Cadence! Quit licking my hand! - (laughs) So cute! And before I actuallystarted working here, I actually watched your review on it and I was like (snapsfingers) gotta get it. - Now, you're definitelygetting some marks off for your other monitor, because the viewingangles on that are so bad I thought you had a privacy filter. - Yeah, so this one is,basically enough, was... Aw, I don't even know how old this is. I think it's probablylike six, seven years ago. But I keep it vertical because every time I do any spreadsheets, Excel, or when I do my after/beforework kind of stock trading, it's all nice and vertical for my charts. - I am liking the desk pad here. - Mm-hmm.- Not bad. - [Jono] Aw jeez, Rick! - Pretty good. I'm liking it. All right, but we're gonnahave to move it out of the way so we can admire the setup here. This is from the office, isn't it? - [Jono] Yep, so I gotit at a super good price. - How much did you end up paying for this? - 200. - [Linus] Really? For the Lian Li desk? - I was actually preparedto pay 500 bucks, Tyler. - And you've got apretty sick rig in here. So that looks like an RTX 2080? - [Jono] Yeah, 2080 Ti. - [Linus] 2080 Ti. - I was trying to play"Anno" with you guys one time and it would just notwork, so I had to upgrade. - And then what are welooking at for CPU here? - So that's an 8700K, not overclocked, 'cause I just don't feellike bothering with that. So right now I havethe H150i from Corsair, but I did change thefans from the stock ones, so they're ML120s, just because of RGB, and I like the future tech of maglev. I got them on sale! I think it was on Neweggfor like 40 bucks for three. - Oh, that's not too bad. - Yeah, that's actually pretty good. I am rich enough, maybein two or three months, to do a full custom water cooling on it. (metal clangs) - That's the sound ofa quality water bottle dropping on the floor. - It's super good.- LTTStore.com. - (clucks) Yeah. (snaps fingers) - Why do you need it so quiet? - I don't know. I just wannado custom water cooling. - You're one of the only onesthat has paid much attention to their sound setup though. - I had to do thatbecause my old Logitech- (metal clangs) (Jono laughs)- LTTStore.com. But your gaming rig is only part of your overall computersetup, is that right? - Yes, it is. Yeah. - So this is sort of themedia and entertainment hub. Now, are you unironicallyusing an Xbox One Kinect? If I find any dancegames over here, Jono... - [Jono] I don't think so. - So even this one looks like a pretty banging machine here. So you got an NH-D15 in here, Z370, so this is probably, what? Like a 7700K or... - [Jono] That's a 8600K. - An 8600K! And then you've got a 1080 Ti in here. - [Jono] Yeah. - This is your secondary machine? - [Jono] It's for the wife. We originally builtthis for "Fallout '76," but we all know how that turned out. - That's the second timewe've heard that today! - Yeah. - [Linus] You played "Breath of the Wild-" - [Jono] Yeah. - [Linus] And then didn't touch it again. - [Jono] I haven't finished it yet. - [Linus] You haven'tfinished "Breath of the Wild?" - It just got so good Ididn't want it to end. - Now, why do you have two PS4s? - Oh, because Jillieand I can play "Destiny" and multiplayer gameslike "Watch Dog" as well. But I got those at a pawn shop. - [Linus] So basicallythese are stolen goods. - I have no idea. - Sounds pretty stolen to me. Now, I did find one that wasa bit of a cause for concern. Jono, do you have something to tell us? - So I travel at least once a year- - Okay, the first step isadmitting that you have a problem. - [Jono] Okay, okay, that. Yeah. - So welcome to therose ceremony, everyone, except instead of roses,we will be awarding a Maximus XI HERO gaming motherboard and a Core i9-9900K. This is basically the pinnaclewhen it comes to gaming, and when paired with the right hardware, it'll basically run anything under the sun at frame rates that willpretty much boggle your mind. And it can be yours if the judges, that's me, select your setup as the fame-iest. There were some pros andcons to each of your setups. Jake, yours stood outas by far the geekiest, and I mean that in avery functional sense. Nobody else would've thought to strip down the housing of their webcam to make it so that it'll fit in between the bezels of their verticallystacked ultrawide monitors. Massive credit for that. What held your setupback was, quite frankly, the fact that I had totouch one of your socks. That was the most disgusting experience of my day.- You went under my bed. - That was the most disgustingexperience I had today, and I touched Tyler's keyboard. - I think it was a clean sock too. - Was it? Tyler, the vibe I got from your space was that you were more thanjust about computers and gaming. You know, your nerdy, fringe, unusual hobbies stretch far beyond just tech. I kinda feel like, you know... You know that club in high school with like two or three members? I feel like you were in that club, and then you were in the otherclub that was like that club. - I was probably leadingboth of those clubs. - With that said, you lostsome serious brownie points for how brown my hands were after I touched anything in your setup. Dude, it was disgusting. - That's fair. - Jono, you had the slickest setup. So you've got the desk PC going. You've got the whiteboard next to it. All your controllers andconsoles have a place. You've got somewhere to actually keep all of your games and stuff. I felt like you were a littletoo focused on the dog. You actually lost points forCadence being a distraction. - But she's so cute! - Exactly. Honestly, when it cametime to determine a winner, it was really, really difficult, because what it ultimatelyhad to come down to was who needed it the most. The one thing that one of you needed more than anyone else was incentive. Tyler, you're taking home a Core i9-9900K and matching motherboard, come claim your prize. But stop. Until such time as you take meup on my very generous offer to come and help you clean up your space, when I come over and we take on that place and it is cleaned to my satisfaction, I will hand you your award. Guys, stay tuned on Twitter, because it's happening. Soon. Right? - Yep. This is reallya prize for my fiance. - She actually kindaneeds it more than you. I can't talk about whatshe was working on, but it was really cool. It's NDA'd, but it's like... But what's not NDA'd is intel.com/gaming. Project zero cables the Cleanest Desk Setub ever

 - Are you tired of reachingdown to plug in a USB stick? Do you hate that mess ofcables under your desk? Are you sick of hard touse phone charging cables? Meet the LTT clean desk V2. It's our meanest, cleanest desk setup yet, and it was completely scratch built for the ultimate in cablemanagement perfection. Thank you LG for sponsoring this video. And now why don't weall take a closer look at what you guys paid us to build. (dramatic music) LG's Ultra Fine Ergo display features a 32 inch 4K IPS panel which is great for watching videos, getting work done or whatever you want. But it also isn't itsmost interesting feature. The ergo in the name is because the includedadjustable monitor arm foregoes the traditional large base and instead uses a muchmore compact desk clamp. The arm gives you the ability to move the display 180 millimeters, or seven inches away from the stand and swivel it 280 degrees in addition to your typical tilt, rotate and height adjust. That made it the perfect candidate for a project that one upsour last cleanness desk setup. In its pushed back position, the monitor has a distinctasymmetrical look to it. And the goal was to complement that look, rather than build justanother basic rectangle desk. We ended up choosingthe single bump design to keep the integratedUSB hub out of the way of the chair to give artisticusers a larger work area and for aesthetics. For our material, wechose Baltic birch plywood for its light color, strengthand great layering pattern. Did I mention this is ascratch build by the way. Nicholas is gonna put allthe plans in the description if y'all wanna follow along. For dimensions, we settledon the five foot width of our sheet to save a cut. And for depth, we felt 28 inches allowed both comfortable computingthanks to the Ultra Finer Ergo. And with a quick transformation, ample space for hobbies like drawing, model building and the like. Now the main innovation of our table is it's invisible cable management. High Performance wirelesskeyboards and mice have been staples ofclean setups for years. But the problem is that wedon't have the technology yet for wireless high speed USB or high resolution display connections. At least not with low latency. So we came up with theidea of routing channels on the underside of the tableto tuck our cables into. And then we chose legs thatare both aesthetically pleasing and hollow. The idea here is that our desktop and the floor underneathcan be totally free of rat's nest cable mess. We laid out the potential cuts then set up the desk likeit was intended to be used. This actually ended uphelping us choose the hump as the home for our USB 3 hub. I mean no one likes bumping aUSB stick and breaking it off. We've all been there. As for our wireless charging chi spot, the left side keeps it out of the way and maximizes usable space on the right. Lefties may actually preferto mirror the entire design. Marking the final cutlines, cable channels, and where our legs will attach was next. A quick tip by the way, mark an X on any areas to be cut. This will make it easier to remember which side of the line you wanna stay on and provides a quick referenceto what should be cut off. We then used a jigsaw to remove most but not all of the material. This was to make surethat when we went back and cut with our handheld router, the cutting kind of router not the networking kind of router, we'd be able to get aclean smooth surface. Using long rulers and someof our filament spools as guides for our flesh trim router bit, we were able to clean up all of the edges of our table to its final shape. For those of you wonderingwhat a flesh trimmed it is, it's a router bit that hasa bearing at the bottom or the top that matches thediameter of the cutting part. The bearing rides alonga template or guide that you wanna cut and thebit then cuts that shape. Next, we drilled outthe holes for the legs, and instead of using a normal wood screw we went with these threaded wood inserts. They allow us to easily install and remove the legswithout having to worry about the screw holes wearing out and becoming unusable over time. Make sure you choose agood quality insert though. We had a couple that didn'twant to install all the way in before breaking. And when they break, well, they are a royalpain in the tush to remove. For cutting the cable channels, a combination of freehand routing and using a straightedge as a guide was used to make multiple passes downto the quarter inch depth that we needed. Then for the wireless charging pad. The hole was cut freehand tojust inside the marked circle with multiple very careful passes to get down to just oneand a half millimeters of material left. That's about the thicknessof a grain of rice. We then slowly clearance cut until the charge pad fit perfectly. To hold it in place we usedsome scrap metal flat bar, cleaned it up and gave it aslight bend in the middle. So that once screwed down, the bend and the flat barwould push against the pad, holding it in place. To make the desk look thicc, that's what to seize Of course, but still have it be lightenough to move around. We added a one inch skirt tothe entire outside of the desk. Now to make the skirt, you could take the timeto make an exact copy of the tabletop that's one inch thick. Or you could go the faster route of using the scraps and off cuts from making the table in the first place. We cut down the scrapsto an inch and a bit, the exact size doesn't really matter. You just wanna make surethere's enough material to give you a strong glue bond. You don't have to worry about overhang at this stage by the way, because that's gonna be taken care of with the flush trim bit. Do make sure however thatthere is no undercut. Because it'll look like there's a chunk of wood missing from your desk. The skirt was then glued down then routed to match the skirt to thetabletop, looks tiring. Good thing we have thesehuge 40 ounce water bottles, lttstore.com. Now we chose a five and aquarter inch bay USB hub that has five type A portsand a Gen two USB type C port. Power for the hub ishandled via SATA connector, and data is handled by this 16 foot opticalUSB 3.2 Gen two cable. Oh and then also thismale to male coupler, because the pictures on Amazonfor the hub weren't great. To fit the hub and nothave to cut a giant hole into the side of the desk, we had to strip the hub down to its PCB, and grab a drill bit that's about as tall as the components on the hub. We use the drill to removethe majority of the wood, then a hammer and chisel toopen it up the rest of the way with frequent test fitsand clearance checks until the hub fit correctly. Then the faceplate that came with the hub was trimmed down and an inlay was cut so that it would be flush mounted. Some more cuts were made so the cables could clear the legs and fit into the channels. Next up was making the pastthrough holes in the leg for our cables. One in the top drilledout with a step down bit, and then filed until itwas big and smooth enough to pass our cables through. Then for the bottom same procedure, just a lot wider to makegrabbing the cables easier. To smooth the table for final assembly. We started with 120 grit sandpaper to knock down all thesharp edges on the table, and round the corners a bit. And then next was 220 grit. Then after a wipe down with a damp cloth, the table was sprayedwith it's first few coats of satin clear varnish. These coats need to dry for about 24 hours after which you'll notice the wood grain becomes more pronouncedor it tends to pop out a little bit more. This is called grain rise and it happens when the woodswells a bit from the varnish. All you need to do to fix it is lightly sand the topwith 320 or 400 grit to it smooth again. And after that give it anotherwipe down with a damp cloth to get rid of all the leftover dust. Spray another couple coats of varnish, let it dry overnight and come back to admireyour wood in the morning. Now that the table is done, all that remains is to see ifit functions as advertised. This is actually my firsttime being close up with it. First order of business, I guess is to take advantageof the main benefit of the approach we took here. So this is sick. The only area where there'sany cables visible on the desk. Okay, there's a smallwraparound at the back where the monitor arm comes down. Then it goes into ourbuilt in cable channel. Then there's an umbilicalcord that comes out here along with the there you go, power brick for the monitor. And that's it. Those are heading offnext to your super sexy, clean looking PC. And the entire bottom ofthe desk is unobstructed. So mission accomplishedas far as that goes. Obviously, using a hubinstead of dedicated runs for each of these USB ports means that you are limited to the maximum speed of the single tetherconnection that goes back to the main computer. But given that the just for like front peripherals or whatever. Realistically, I don't think you're gonna wanna plug in too many highspeed devices at the same time. So this is a type C Steam library drive. I'm just gonna pop in there and I'll see if it works I guess. What a wonderful question. Yes, I can turn the brightness down. Sorry, we need to turnit down to the camera. But for your eyes, youmight want it pretty bright. It does 350 nits peak brightness, and it is HDR 10 compatible. So if you have an HDR signalcoming into it, that will work. Is that better Brandon. Theoretically, this shouldbe fast enough for me to use as a game library here. So let's go ahead and addanother library in Steam. Monitor's got speakers, one moment please. Turn those off. They're loud. There we go. So we're running off there just fine. If we had a lot of highspeed stuff plugged in, it could be a problem. But if it's just like USB key and then something likethis for Steam library, I don't expect it to be an issue. Am I in a real match right now? That's fine I can win this. This isn't the fastestpanel that I've seen. LG advertises a five millisecondgreater response time. So it's not exactly likethe ultimate gaming monitor, but the colors look great. No come on. Why is this game so hard? This is cool though. Check this out. I'm like oh yeah, timeto go more immersive. Look at that. We actually did a video recently where we took a gigantic TV also from LG, and then surveyed our staff to see what viewing distancethey felt was optimal. And what we discovered was that depending on the type of content, people actually felt pretty differently about viewing distance. Got all of them adjustments. Oh, yeah. So if I'm like, you know what? This is how I wanna game right now. Oh, it's not gonna make me good at it. But it's definitely sweet. I could blame it on the keyboard and mouse but we all know that'snot what's happening here. We can just figure out more of the ways that I can appreciate how hardI'm getting owned right now. So if you wanna have more of like a top down viewing experience, that's totally cool too. It's like, whatever is ergonomic for you. There's actually a ton ofrange of movement here. Alternately, if you're doingsomething else entirely, you can just like have amovie on like over there. It's kind of out of the way. I like this, this is sweet. What do you think Brandon? Traditional monitor arms, lame. Yeah, pretty much. This looks so much better andtakes up no space on my desk. So I can be like, you know what? Screw this game, 'causeI'm terrible at it. Put all this stuff away. And I'm gonna get off tosomething else entirely here. Yeah, thanks for nothing Rocket League. Like obviously monitorarms existed already, but this is just a less wasteful approach. Why bother buying a junkingarm that you're not gonna use, that's gonna have to sit on your desk and just go in a closet somewhere. When you could just have itcome with the right thing. Great, Love it. Sorry team. Hey, I blew up one of the bad guys though. Well, maybe were the bad guys. We're definitely bad. Man, I remember when 30inch monitors were like, crazy, crazy expensiveand no one had them. Because it's like ah,that's totally unnecessary. Now it's like, yeah, 30 inch, this is a good size. 30 inch 4K is not only big, it's also sharp enough that no matter what distance you are from it, it doesn't have any kindof noticeable pixelation or screen door effect. let's fire up like a premiere project. Oh yeah, and of course you'reat the native resolution if you want to work withlike High Res video content. The Ergo also offers 95% coverage of the DCI P3 color space. So it's perfect forsomething like photo editing or video editing as longas you're not expecting to master HDR content. And of course, we could just watch movies. Oh, I'm gonna switch itinto a HDR mode actually. Oh wow, well The HDR in thisis definitely kicking in here, we just really did not do a great job of mastering this video. The term for that, according to the kids is big yikes. - Big if whyness. - What the monitorsworking as we expected. In conclusion, I think weachieved what we set out to do. Which is absolutely no visible cables from a user perspectiveand nothing to interfere with your feet when you'resitting at your desk. But I do think there are things that we could do to eventake this to another level. Maybe drilling out thebottom of the Ergo stand so that the cables can goright down into our table with the integratedcable management channel. Or maybe integrating one ofLogitech Powerplay mouse pads like into the desk or something. So that you never haveto charge your mouse. But that's a project for another day. For now, if you guys enjoyed this video, check out the link down below to all of the materialsthat we use to create it. And if you wanna watchsomething else like this, get subscribed because we're gonna have the ultimate desk PCversion two coming as well. Where the actual PC isintegrated into the desk and it's not much thicker than this.

The Ruthless Economy Pc

 - Recently, we built thisAMD budget gaming rig for just $500 and it's pretty good but here's the thing, everybody knows, when it comes to gettingthe best bang for the buck, Intel is where it's at, as long as you don'tmind having no warranty, having an exposed to die on your processor and using some pretty sketchy bios hacks, yes my friends this righthere is the heart and soul of what we're dubbingthe roofless economy PC, so tighten up your sandals, ladies and gentlemen because this is gonna be one wild ride and it's brought to you byPrivate Internet Access, PIA is the VPN service, that encrypts all your internet traffic and uses a safe, protected IP, it's got a ton of othercool features as well, so you can check it out at the link, in the video description. (upbeat music) Let's start with explaining, what you guys were looking at before, this is the QQLTES anengineering sample chip with six cores and 12 threads, that's clocked from 2.4 gigahertz base, to 4.1 gigahertz boost, that was supposed to bedestined for a laptop but has been Frankensteinedby the one and only Mr.Su, so that it can be installed in a desktop, one of these is gonna run you just $125, which is pretty good for a six course, so between Mr Su and Lisa Su, I think he'll take MrSu any day of the week, again as long as you don't mind, having no warranty whatsoever, in buying engineering sample chips, really though the main valueadd here is not the CPU itself but rather that this CPUallows us to get one of these, the H110-D3A is a miningoptimized motherboard, you can see it's got allthese PCI express slots here for those little mining GPU adapters, that can be had on eBayfor as little as $30 and happens to, we hope, workperfectly with the QQLTES, it's not even the same shape, the installation processfor this abomination here, very straight forward, you go ahead and you take this buddy here with the little notches, you line them up with thelittle notches right there, there you go, well somethinglike that, oh yeah, you pop this little like carrier, slash hold down plate puppy on here, you just screw these screwsright into the motherboard, no problem. - [Alex] There's actualtapped holes on the back. - Oh, oh, okay I thought wewere just screwing into the PCB, well that's a little better. - [Alex] No yeah it's like kind of legit. - Okay. For cooling you'd besurprised how cheap we can go, this right here is an Intel stock cooler, you can probably scavengeone of these for nothing but if you do have to pay for them, they go for about $9 on eBayand that's not a lot of metal, that's not a lot of coolingthere but the good news is that because we're using a mobile processor, it also doesn't output a lot of heat and compared to the space constraints, that you would have todeal with in a laptop, yeah it looks you know downright frosty. One thing we wanna be carefulof when installing the CPU is that we're not puttingexcess pressure on one corner and we're applying it evenly because otherwise we couldcrack that exposed to die and our CPU would bevery dead at that point. Now when it comes to storage, we never recommend cheapingout and going second hand because when you thinkabout it, what's $10 or $20, compared to the value ofyour precious family photos? But this is the ruthlesseconomy PC, isn't it? So for our boot drive, we went with this Samsung840 series off of eBay, it's just over $20 anddoes have a DRAM cache, so we won't expect the slowdowns, that can happen with DRAM less SSDs and then because 120 gigs just plain, ain't enough to store any modern games, like warfare type games, youknow what I'm talking about? We also went with aone terabyte Barracuda, that was $19, yeah. The great thing about this is that by spendingonly $40 on our storage, we were able to get 16 gigs of RAM, I mean sure it's from a brand that, even I've never heard of TimeTec but theoretically I mean, those are RAM chips on their, SK Hynix should be fineright, right, right? - [Andy] Yeah 60 bucks for those. - 60 bucks. Now it's time to startbuilding this thing, meet computer case, it's got compelling featureslike steel and front panel. It also happens to beextremely lightweight, so light I can't evenget it out of the box. All of this and no morecan be yours for just $30, which happens to be $30 more, than we're willing to spend on a case in a ruthless economy PC. Meet the Antec P180, side of the road edition, we got this for free onthe side of the road. - [Alex] It has featureslike no front panel. - Look at that unrestricted airflow, after we've removed thesecapes up, fan filters. - [Alex] It might even have bugs. - It's not a bug, it's a feature. The craziest thing aboutthe P180 SOTR edition is that it's not eventhe most defunct thing, about itself, Rip NCIX, to go with our vintage and tech case, we got a vintage Antec power supply, this is an Earth watt 650 watt and we would describe it as old, reliable, you know it's reliable becausesomeone's been running it, in their gaming rig for the last 10 years, it might have a something kindof rattling around inside it but it was only 20 bucks on eBay and I'm sure that'll come outif we shake it hard enough, it's hot glue, I wonder whatit was holding in place. I gotta say it's been a spicy minute, I think the last time Ibuilt on a P180 series case and tech was still relevant, got them. It is so dirty, I'm like look at this, oh my God, it's dust, oh I thought it was like amark from the heat of the CPU or something gross, you canactually read the brand, it's a Zelman LGA 775 cooler. When did these guys go so wrong? All right I never installed the RAM. There we go, I guessI'll need some screws. - [Alex] Those screws are actually, from the not working systemthat was in that case. - Beautiful, recycling, ifyour side of the road, P180, doesn't have these screws, you too can check yourhope and a prayer bin and hope and pray that youfind some of the minute, they're not wide enough at the head, I would need like a washeror something instead, hopefully they hold it in well enough, to at least finish this video. Look at this class A cable management, we got on this case here, look at this, here's your little cutout right there, kind of put that through there, plug that into the back ofyour hard drive right there, a little, something likethat, oh yeah, boom, done and you just hope it stays out of the fan. - [Andy] That fan is so fricking dirty. - I also found a screw in it, the top fans apparently connect via Molex, so we'll go ahead and I reallydon't like touching this, this is really very dirty, like it smells, I did it for the views. This is the most dead fanthat I have seen in some time, check this out, you can actually see, it's popped out of the frame, that's okay, this one spins, that one spins, does that just loosen it? Now older cases like this one, don't have anywhere toproperly mount an SSD, so we're gonna go with right there. - [Andy] One time I threwmy SSD in the drive bay area and it fell out and shortedthe back of my motherboard. - I have a solution, we'regonna cable manage it, to hold it in place, okay see, now it cannotfall, see, perfect. Here's a pretty modern feature actually, our GPU power cable is comingup through the basement, it's case really was ahead of its time. Now it's time to put the cherry on top of our feces Sunday here, this GTX 1070 cost us about $200 and should deliver anywherefrom 30 to 40% more performance, than the 1650 that we putin our all brand new parts with warranties gaming machine, isn't it beautiful Andy? - [Andy] Yeah it's a sleeper, it's more than asleep,it's like blackout drunk. - Wow genuine Intel CPU0000 at 2.4 gigahertz but hey, turbos working,it's 14 nanometers, which for Intel means it'seither very modern or quite old and it's coffee languagetells us more specifically, what era it's from, so I'm expecting muchpretty decent performance from this thing and itidentifies as a Xeon 2400, so like a mobile Xeon, fascinating, this is a 45 watt chip andwait, is this one unlocked? - [Andy] Yeah that might not be the CPU, that I thought it was. - Yeah we put the wrong CPU in, that's why it wasn't showing up, as one that would be unlocked, so it needs to be one of these, in our defense they allkind of look the same, while we swap out the CPUit's a good time to point out, that with a bare die chip like this, it is extremely importantto have thermal compound, covering absolutely everywhere on it, if you have any part of itthat is not thermal pasted, there is a good chance it will die. - [Andy] It won't dieit'll just do really bad. - No it could die 'cause some part of it, that doesn't have aproper temperature sensor. - [Andy] Oh true. - Yeah I don't knowit's easy for me to say, as you know someone with a full time job, who's an adult and all that, that you know this is scaryand I wouldn't recommend it but teenage me would probably say, well you're an idiot for buying this, when you can get more FPS with that, of course we need to figure out, if it actually gets more FPS first. - [Andy] It's gonna crush it. - Minor details. - [Andy] Absolutely crush it. - Look that's what we thinkbut let's just verify it, okay? Well let's open up X to you here. - [Andy] Oh it says thermal throttling. - What? That's weird we're noteven doing anything. Oh wait it's better now, what'd you do? Did you just give it alittle wiggly wiggle? Did one of the clipsnot go all the way in? - [Alex] Yeah I think that youjust missed one of the clips, do you wanna turn it off and fix that? - Sure. Sorry there little CPU,oh yeah so it clicked in but it didn't click into the motherboard, give it a little wiggle. Wow I get a cloud of dustwhen I press the power button, that's exciting. I've got XTU open andI don't actually know if applying anything is going to work yet but it appears as thougheverything is completely unlocked on this puppy so that's cool, our temps are good, we'reidling at around 30 degrees now, which is exactly what I'd expect, which means it's timefor a quick Cinebench, drag race friend you ready? Genuine Intel CPU 0000versus rise in three 3,100 and go, ooh, dang, they be sketchy but it suresketches this thing fast. And it's the same pricefor these machines? - [Andy] Yep exactly the same. - Exactly the same, dang 2,800, 2300 points, so that's a Cinebench win, now to be clear if all you were after was Cinebench performance, you could also go pick yourself up, a first gen rise in seven, eight core and it would beat the stuffing out of this but remember we're after anall around good experience here and that includes gaming. Take that Alex, boom, who'sgot more FPS now baby? Oh shoot oh my control key- - Oh you have a lot more than me. - Wait why is there a controlkey here, that's not control, there's two controls on the left, you're gonna have to plantthe bomb at some point. Oh, no, no, okay, cool solet's just like stand here and follow our team around. So we're anywhere from around1015 to as high as 20% faster on our Frankenstein machinecompared to all new parts, let's try one more game. Before we do that Alexreally wants to try, over clocking this thing, so what do you think4.5 gigahertz all core? - Yeah we might be ableto do 4.7 not all core. - That's really aggressive. All right there's 4.5all core, oh it's dead. - I was about say giveher a bit more voltage. - 4.5 all core? - Didn't crash yet. - That's something. - Do you wanna run a Cinebench? - I would love to, it's definitely on thestruggle bus a little bit but it's rather that 4.5 boys, dang 96, 95, ah, throttled, okay so we need better cooling, 1.15 it's dead.- Yeah it's not. - Okay we're done, you'redone, it's off, it turned off, that's weird our hard drive disappeared, our partition is gone. That's why DOOM eternal won't launch. I mean we did say thatusing used hard drives was something we don't recommend, at least all we lost were some games. That's crazy so running 3D mark, we're looking at as high as 25%, 30% difference in performance, going from our $500 value rigto our ruthless economy rig, making this one even more appealing is the fact that it hasdouble the system memory, which I mean might notbe useful in every game but could definitely come in handy. So there you have it folks, she might not look like much, she might not last for longand she might smell real bad but she's got it where it counts, the ruthless economybuild comes out on top, you can find the links to whereto check out all this stuff in the video descriptionas usually happens, when we make a videoabout this kind of stuff, though it'll probably all be out of stock, by the time you look at itbut hey it's worth a shot, you know what else is worth a shot? Checking out our sponsor, Micro Center, actually that's great because that's probably whereyou're gonna end up going, when you look at this and go, yeah, no, I don't want any part of that, you can get the PowerSpecG435 computer at Micro Center, you can shop online or in person, at any of their 25 locations across the US and the PowerSpec G435features and Intel core i7, 10700KF, 3.8 gigahertz processor, NVIDIA RTX2070 SuperGraphics, 32 gigs of RAM and it's packed in a LianLi 205 ATX computer case, so basically it's better thanthis in every possible way but of course it doescost a little bit more, 'cause like you know, warranties, little conveniences like that. Thanks for watching if youguys enjoyed this video, maybe check out our previous exploration, into Mr Su's crazy Frankenstein CPUs, where we go a little bit more in depth, into how they are actually made.

AMD vs intel imRange games pc challenge

  - You've saved your box tops, fished under the couch cushions and pulled together allyour leftover lunch money and you are finally ready tobuild your first gaming rig. But what do you choose? AMD, Intel? We couldn't decide either. So today, we're goingto be building not one, but two budget friendly gaming PCs, each coming in at around US$1000, and we're gonna put them head to head, to see just how they perform. That is, after we perform, this message, for our sponsor. The Corsair K100

RGBmechanical gaming keyboard combines aluminum designwith perky RGB backlighting and they're 44 zone threesided light edge bar. Check it out today at the link below. (electric music) The build starts with oneof the best budget CPU's on the market right now,the AMD Ryzen 3 3100. What's so great about this is it uses the same Zen 2 architecture as their higher price products but in a more bite sized package. So instead of having sixor eight or 12 or 16 cores, it's got just four cores, but they're fast ones and like the rest ofAMD's rise and lineup, there's full support for overclocking. Compared to our CPU, our motherboard is an area where we actually went beyond the bare minimum though. To be clear, the B550Phantom Gaming 4 ASROCK isn't a high end board, but what it does have is an upgrade path. So in addition to havinga couple of M.2 slots for SSDs, it's got supportfor PCIe express Gen 4 in both the top 16 X slot and top SSD slot If we ever wanted toupgrade the graphics card. And it's got out of the box compatibility with Zen 3 Ryzen 5000 Series Processors, which up until this point have such high core counts and high prices that they don't necessarilymake sense for a budget bill. But that doesn't mean it'snot worth spending the extra you know, 20 bucks or 30 bucks to have the ability to gothat route in the future. Representing Intel, we'vegot the Core i3-10100. Just like our AMD competitor, it's got four cores and eight threads, but unlike our AMD competitor, it is not capable of overclocking at all, which did inform some ofour other parts choices. For example, our motherboard. We could have gone withthe H470 Phantom Gaming 4 which does have another M.2 slot, a couple more power phases as well as slightlybetter USB connectivity. But because that didn't giveus any overclocking potential and stepping all the wayup to a Z series chipset just wasn't in the cardsat this price point, we decided to save the, whatis it like 20 bucks, 30 bucks? Something like that, yeah. The last key differencebetween our two systems is our memory. For the AMD system, we'reusing G Skill Ripjaws V and for the Intel, we'reusing G Skill Ripjaws V. But at a slightly slower speed. G Skill rightly pointed out, when we requested memory for this project that the Intel System wouldn'tbe able to take advantage of anything higher than 2933 megahertz. Now, because 3200 megahertz was exactly the same priceat current promo pricing, we opted to go for that anyway. With that out of the way, to save you guys some time and boredom, we're going to talk aboutthe rest of the parts with just one of the systems, the AMD one while Colin assembles the other one on the counter over there. Let's start then with the cooler. We've gone with a classichere, ladies and gentlemen. This is the Hyper 212 EVO V2. It's got a 120 millimeter fan. It's a tower design with four heat pipes and they make direct contactwith the IHS of the CPU. Basically, this has been the go to for like 10 years for cheapand cheerful CPU cooling, if you don't have an included cooler. Of course one common drawbackwith budget oriented coolers is that the installation is, well let's just say it'ssome assembly required. It's not difficult by anystretch of the imagination, but it does take a littlebit more time than something like a knock to a cooler. Once it's on there though. Hey, that looks pretty freaking great, and the cherry on topis to tie our fan cable and a nice little bow and plugit into the CPU fan header. In line with our theme of building up pretty nice gaming machinewithout wasting any money, we've gone with the EVGA 550 B5 supply. It's a decent quality unitwith 80 plus bronze efficiency. It's got a nice quiet fanthat can even be turned off. That's right my friends, it's got a silent fan mode and it's one of the most inexpensive units on the market with afully modular interface. While there are a ton ofother cases on the market, we really liked the 275R Airflow for it's good mix of price, features and performance. It's got a tempered glass side panel, filtered air intake onthe bottom, excellent, oh, there you go, airflowthrough the front, three included 120 millimeter fans and really nice looking cable management that's gonna give ourbuild a really clean look when we're done. This isn't by any means astep by step build guide, but I also don't wanna glossover important stuff like this. With budget boards, you do still have toinstall your own IO shield which a lot of the timemeans bending these things and making sure thatthey're not in the way, once the motherboard actually goes in. Try not to cut yourself, this is like the highest probability of cutting yourself part of... Dang it. - [David] Is it just cheaperto produce external ones than to build them into the motherboard. - 'cause it's not just thecost of the actual units. It's like the tooling cost ofcreating the shroud and stuff, 'cause the IO is so differenton every motherboard. Like we blew so much ofthis thousand dollar budget on the graphics card. And the only way we can do that is by saving three bucks hereand two bucks there, okay? (laughing) For storage, we normally steer clear as the roundless SSDs foryour operating system. But in this case, because we're looking for areasonable amount of capacity, faster than a hard drive, and we don't wanna spendany more than we have to, the Patriot Burst 960gig takes a lot of boxes. One thing we might recommendin the future as an upgrade when you've got a bit of extra budget, is switch over to using your SATA SSD just for your game drive and run your ROS off of an NBME drivethat you put in later. At around US$500, our MSI MECH Radeon 5700XT represents about half of our total budget. But given that this is a gaming machine, not a video editing PC or 3D modeling PC, I think that is more than justified and there's a lot of bang forthe buck to be heard here. It's got a fast GPU, it's goteight gigs of GDDR6 memory and it doesn't have fancies like HTMI 2.1 or PCIe express Gen 4. But if you want to play triplea games at anywhere from, I'd say up to 1440p, this is your ticket. Unfortunately, attempting to enable XMP and get it running at DDR4 3600 was a no go, even thoughit's like supported. But I still think wecan do better than 2933, which is what Colin isgonna be stuck with, with the Intel System there. So we're just gonna go to, oh yes, do you run frequency? Let's try 3200. Oop, I could have savedour $3 here though. (laughing) Now that the machines are built, it's time for the head to head showdown, which of course means one V1, but also with bots on our side, so whatever, don't worry about it. See us go--- Yeah. - With my Ryzen 3. I had a hard time running it. Anything higher than stock RAM settings. And I couldn't tellyou whether that's down to my particular chipsintegrated memory controller or my motherboard, but that could be asignificant disadvantage for my system right now, in spite of the fact that Ihave fast RAM installed in it. As for whether that's actuallya competitive advantage, I guess we'll find out soon enough. (laughing) Argh, no. We aren't playing. Yes, headshot. You know what the bottom line is though, regardless of who wins. So that's what a nice winner I am. - Yeah, of course. - Is like, these areboth great experiences. I'm having a great time. - Yeah, I'm sure you're havinga great head shooting me every time you come around the corner (laughing) - Something to note though is I'm actually hosting our server. But CSGO servers is not likea super intensive workload by any stretch. Okay, we're going duelberettas, duel berettas boys. Wait, what? My, my boss dead already, what the... - [Collin] I didn't do it. - No, you really didn't. Your bot killed both of us. I kinda fear Colin's bot more than him. (laughing) - Oh no. - It is games that Colins good at-- - Listen.- This just doesn't happen to be one of them. That's why I picked it. So this is cool. We're recording gameplayon our graphics card, I'm running a server, and we're both runningit like 200, 250 FPS. Not too freaking shabby, hey. - I've only got extra 20 FPS on you. - [David] Is it worth havingthe other person on the server to see if it's comparable? - I see what you're saying, like to make sure that's nota huge performance difference. Honestly, to me it doesn't really affect the conclusion much here though, because I'm looking at this going, then for a thousand dollars, boy can you ever get a wholehell of a lot of gaming? Like this 1440p absolutely maxed out, yeah, it's an esports title, but you are getting an extremely competitive experience here. - [Colin] Oh, there's nothing wrong with this gaming experience. - On either side and we canrun some more benchmarks if you really wanna knowwhich one edges out the other. So why don't we do that?- Yeah. - Which brings usperfectly to our next game where you might notice I'vechosen a canned benchmark rather than a head to head battle. (laughing) Got them. And, three, two, one, here we go. Oh wow. You might've looked good and see us go, but we're running at the same settings 1440p absolutely cranked. And that Intel CPU is holding back the GPU a little, little bit here. Remember, these systems areidentical other than the CPU. And then the motherboard, obviously to go with it. - [Colin] Man, I guess that's what an extra ahundred bucks got you. - Yes I know, because if it wasn't for prices being drivenup by the holiday madness and shortages on AMD CPU's, these would be basicallythe same darn price. - [Colin] Yeah. - And we didn't have to gowe could have to go B 550. We could have saved a buck and gone with a lower end chipset, knowing that we wouldhave to update the bios in order to get ourthird Gen Ryzen Processor to work on it out of the box. So we could've gone B 450 and been right around the same price. Okay. Now, we have-- - [Colin] My minimums crushed you. - My low 1% FPS are way above. This must have just been one frame. This is clearly a betterresult, low 0.1% even. Way better. - Well, with that crushingdefeat, let's open up 3Mark. - You already ran that, right? - I did already run it. So we can just load up the results. - Perfect. And you've come out ahead. - [Colin] Yes. - [Linus] In every possible way. I'm glad you asked why that happened. - [Colin] Yes.- He didn't yet. But he was going to.- I was going. - The reason is that synthetic benchmarks just cannot simulate everypossible gaming scenario. Every game engine andevery individual game using that engine can havedifferent idiosyncrasies that run better or worseon different hardware. And that's why we don'teven talk about 3DMark in our graphics card and CPU reviews. Now, if you're doingsomething like overclocking it's a valuable tool, because it tells you on identical hardware and am I my faster than I was before or slower than I was before. But it's not great for comparingnon-identical hardware. Now, let's actually carryon that theme and fire up Cyberpunk 2077.- (indistinct) - To illustrate that point, AMD is actually coming slightlybehind our Intel System in this particular game. Cyberpunk 2077 is abouteight to 10% slower on our AMD versus Intel System. Remember again, using exactlythe same graphics card and exactly the same settings. We're running on themedium preset at 1440p. - [Colin] I mean, thisis pretty indicative. And I mean, as we're sitting here like I'm cooler and also faster. - I didn't even notice that you were running cooler right now. How's our 99th percentile. Oh wow, you're way ahead in that. Okay, well that's pretty much it. That's the conclusion. For a thousand bucks, you can get a fantastic gaming experience whether you decide to go AMD or Intel. As for which one isslightly ahead of the other, it's gonna come down towhich games you wanna play. For my money, I prefer the white box here. And the reason is that, it'sgot a more clear upgrade path but, we also don't know forsure how Rocket Lake from Intel, which is also gonna be onthat same LGA 1200 socket is going to stack up. Which means no matter whocomes out ahead, AMD or Intel the big win is for you, the consumer. You know what else is a big win? Me telling you about our sponsor. The real life serial killer that ins

NARRATOR: "AmericanHorror Story" consistently appalls and enchantsus with an array of extraordinary charactersand extreme situations. [SCREAMING] However, more than a handfulof these despicable depictions are based on real worldpeople and events. Devil's night. I have a standing reservation. NARRATOR: Here are eightvillains from history who have been glorified forour sadistic entertainment. [GUN SHOT] [STAB] [SCREAMING] Welcome to America. NARRATOR: KathyBates' Madame Lalaurie relishes torturing her slaves. She's also quite partial toa face mask of fresh blood. When the blooddries my skin, it's supposed to be tight as a drum. NARRATOR: Horrifically, the real Madame Lalaurie is not too far off. Marie Delphine Lalaurie wasa well-liked New Orleans socialite born in 1780. She was considered a fundamentalmember of the bourgeois society until her sadistic indulgenceswere exposed after a slave set her kitchen on fire. Upon seeing Lalaurie'shouse ablaze, neighbors rushed to help andfound a panicked Lalaurie in an attic fullof tortured slaves. One account recalls severalsuspended by their necks with their limbs stretched out. And another speaks of one manwith a head full of maggots. The really horrifyingthing about this is that this form ofcruelty to human slaves was not unheard of forthis time and place. [SPLATTER] The Axeman was an elegantblend of serial killer and jazz musician. In 1919, as NewOrleans was struggling to recover after aspate of murders, The Axeman sent policea confession note proclaiming his victims namesand intent to kill again. However, the note promised anyhousehold playing jazz would be spared from a murderous visit. The real world Axeman'sidentity was never discovered. But what is known is that hespent his evenings between 1918 and 1919 breaking into homesto kill women, and sometimes their husbands as well. [CIRCUS MUSIC PLAYING] [EVIL LAUGHTER] Twisty was dropped onhis head as a child, resulting in a mildmental disability. In 1943, he performed as asuccessful traveling clown. But pedophile rumorsruined his reputation. Distraught, Twistytried to kill himself, but only succeeded inblowing off his jaw, leaving him horribly disfigured. He mentally unraveledfurther, kidnapping children and keeping them in cageson an abandoned bus. There is no exact real worldequivalent of Twisty the clown. But history tells us ofseveral killer clowns. One of the most notableis John Wayne Gacy who performed at partiesas Pogo the Clown until he was convictedof 33 murders in 1980. All the victims were young menwho he had molested or raped before he murdered them. [JAZZ MUSIC PLAYING] James March was animmaculately dressed and cold-bloodedpsychopath who built his own hotel in the 1920s. The hotel was the ultimatepervert's playground designed to allow him to hunt, hide, and torture his victims. You got to go out-- [SCREAM] --and grab life. NARRATOR: Mr. Marchis based on one of America's first serialkillers-- Henry Howard Holmes. Holmes custom built his ownhotel of horrors in 1893. It was full of hiddendoorways, stairs that lead to nowhere, windowless rooms, and a body-sized incinerator. He was also a con artist andonce convinced his friend Benjamin Pitezel to partakein an insurance scam, faking Pitezel's death, andcollecting life insurance. It all went to plan, exceptHolmes really did kill him. He was eventually caughtand confessed to 27 murders. But estimates put the actualbody count to be more than 200. The "Devil's Night"episode saw the revival of several notorious realworld serial killers. When was the last time a chickreally turned you inside out? NARRATOR: Aileen Wuornos,a former prostitute who killed seven clients inFlorida between 1989 and 2002. Richard Ramirez, AKAthe Night Stalker, went on a murderoushome invasion spree in Los Angeles in the 1980s. He was convicted of 13 counts ofmurder, five attempted murders, and 11 counts of sexual assault.Serial killer and sex offender Jeffrey Dahmer also dropped by. I want to make them part of me. NARRATOR: Dahmer was responsiblefor the rape, murder, and dismemberment of 17boys between 1978 and 1991. Not to be left out, theinfamous zodiac killer and the aforementionedJohn Wayne Gacy also stopped in for a biteand some casual murder. [SCREAMING]  You've the seen thecreepiest real life killers to inspire "AmericanHorror Story." Is there anotherfigure from history that haunts your nightmares? If so, let us know in thecomments section below. Thanks for watching. What order shall we die in?
